National Highway through Rampur Bazar to be opened within 7 days: CM
Dharamshala, December 11, 2019: Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the damaged road at Rampur Bazar of Shimla-Rampur NH 5 will be restored for traffic in the next one week. He said that on December 5, about 20 meters of this road of Rampur market was damaged due to bursting of water pipe line. The Chief Minister gave this information to the House in response to the calling attention motion under Rule 62 raised by Rampur MLA Nand Lal. He said that the leakage of the water pipe has also been rectified now due to which this road could be opened for vehicles other than loaded ones in the next seven days. Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Minister Virendra Kanwar said that the registered fishermen in Chamera, Gobind Sagar dams and the Pong Dam, would soon be offered life jackes. He added that fishermen will also be provided with tubes for their boats so that their lives can be saved in any kind of emergency. He said that the government has kept a budget of 11 crores for safety equipment. Online tender for life jacket has been announced and soon these jackets will be made available to fishermen. Kanwar gave this information on the third day of the session in the matter raised by Dehra MLA Hoshiar Singh regarding the death of fishermen. Virendra Kanwar said that 5489 fishermen have been registered for fishing in these three dams in the state. The government provides 40 percent subsidy to general category fishermen for purchase of boats and other safety equipment, while 60 percent for reserved category fishermen. At the same time, he told the House that two deaths have of the fishermen have been reported due to drowning this year where as four fishermen died while fishing in 2018-19, four in 2017-18, seven in 2016-17 and six in 2015-16.
