NABARD CONDUCTS DAIRY ENTREPRENEURSHIP WORKSHOP AT GADVASU

Ludhiana, August 1, 2018: A workshop on DEDS (Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme), submission of claims and Government sponsored schemes was held at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. The workshop was organized by NABARD Ludhiana in collaboration with Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana & Dairy Develop Department Punjab. The workshop was attended by about 30 officers from Dairy Development, Animal Husbandry Department, Bankers and Progressive farmers.

Sh.Parveen Bhatia, DDM, NABARD, Ludhiana explained DEDS (Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme), a centrally sponsored scheme implemented through NABARD with an objective to promote setting up of modern dairy farms for production of clean milk, encourage heifer calf rearing, bring structural changes in the unorganized sector and generate self-employment. He explained objectives of the scheme in detail and exhorted to adopt and permote the same.

Sh. Dilbag Singh, Deputy Director Dairy explained DEDS, initiatives and training programme run by Dairy Department. He Further added that an amount of 13.77 crore released by the Government to the state for DEDS, which will be provided to the beneficiary of this scheme as subsidy i.e. 25% to General Category & 33.33% to Schedule Caste Category. He emphasised the farmers to adopt this scheme under Mission Tandrust Punjab campaign already running in state.

Dr. H.K. Verma, Director of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University delivered a lecture on extension services provided by GADVASU for enhancing animal productivity, while Dr. Jaswinder Singh talked about basic nutritional requirements and the strategies to prepare balanced ration as per the category, stage of lactation and type of animal.

Further it is important to mention that NABARD has sanctioned a project for subscribing monthly magazine of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University to around 800 farmers clubs, operational in Punjab for adopting recommendations of University to manage animal’s scientific way for productivity enhancement. LDM, Punjab & Sind Bank explained credit operations, DEDS scheme, and role of banks.
