Farmers awareness programme on dal milling organized at ICAR-CIPHET Ludhiana

Ludhiana, September 1, 2018: India is the still by and large vegetarian in dietary habit and heavily depends upon vegetative source to meet out its daily protein requirement. Pulses are the important sources of proteins, vitamins and minerals and are popularly known as “Poor man’s meat” and “rich man’s vegetable”, contribute significantly to the nutritional security of the country. Also dal milling industry in India is one of the major agro processing industries in the country. Since the demand for quality and hygienic product is increasing everywhere. Modern machineries will help in improving the quality of the product and reducing wastage and will add income to the farmers. Keeping in view the importance of dal processing an awareness programme on dal processing has been organized at ICAR-CIPHET Ludhiana under ABI and FFP Project on 01 September 2018 and approximately 20 farmers attended the same. Dr. Sandeep Mann, PI FFP and Dr. Ranjeet Singh, PI, ABI delivered lecture along with practical demonstration on dal processing to the farmers. Dr. R.K. Singh Director-ICAR-CIPHET assured them that all possible help will be extended for establishment of dal processing business.
