Ferozepur, August 9, 2019: As part of in-service Training & Sensitization of key functionaries of Punjab Government departments for promoting the programs for empowerment of children with disabilities, Mahatma Gandhi State Institution of Public Administration (MGSIPA) Regional Center Bathinda organized one day workshop of teachers of Ferozepur district here today.

About 40 participants from different ranks of schools joined the program. The objective of this program is to sensitize the teaching community to contribute towards the cause of education of the special class of children with disabilities as provided in the Right of Persons with Disabilities Act.

Various subjects including causes of disabilities, psycho-social perspective towards disabled persons, attitude towards disabilities, an overview of Disabilities Act, financial incentives for disabled persons and government schemes for the benefit of this significant section of the society followed by penal discussion. The experts on different themes including Dr. Harish Kumar Sharma, Head of the Department of Psychology Shaheed Bhagat Singh Govt. College Kotkapura, Dr. Navdeep Kaur and Dr. Davinder Pal Singh Civil Hospital Ferozepur and Gurmeet Singh Sandhu Advocate District Courts Ferozepur addressed the participants followed by question answer sessions.

Regional Project Director Bathinda, Jarnail Singh while interacting with the participants emphasized the need of complete involvement and associations with the endeavours being undertaken by the different welfare organizations and social groups for bringing children with different disabilities to the fold of education and make them useful citizens of the society. He said that Right of persons with disability Act and Right to Education Act clearly mandates for cent-percent education of the children with disabilities and ensure them barrier free environment in the schools and colleges with focus on special care for exploring and enriching their talent through special tools provided for meeting their requirements. Mandeep Singh coordinator Regional Center Bathinda, explained the importance of this training program.
