Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya has organized a One Week Faculty Development Program on Capacity Building and Enhancement in Higher Education under DBT Star College Scheme. The inaugural session of the fifth day was addressed by   Major General G.G. Dwivedi, Professor, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The topic of his talk was ''Academic Excellence in the Era of Disruption''. In his inspiring and brilliant talk, he emphasized that if we are always in a learning phase, then only we will be prepared for the future. A teacher need to go beyond the basic notes and need to teach the students in a way that they can be made employable. The challenge for a teacher is how he can make his lecture interesting. Consequently maximum number of students will come and join. Education and learning both can be inside as well as outside. No one needs knowledge, students seek for interesting interpretation of knowledge without disruption so that the change can take place. Moreover, we should guide our students to take risks and challenges. An educationist act as a catalyst, tailored to suit individual students and can circumvent incumbent system. He explained that disruptive technologies include internet, virtual/augmented realty, Artificial Intelligence, online learning(MOOC), competency based education. He further explained that our life is basically dependant on creative thinking & creative approach is actually out of ox solutions. Addressing the teachers, he said that the teachers are the shapers of new India and will shape the young India. A teacher should always inspire the student to get out of his comfort zone and be creative. He concluded his lecture by saying that there is no Greater God than Mother and no Greater Land than Motherland. 
The second session of the day was addressed by Dr. V.K. Kaul, Professor(Retd.), Department of Pathology, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana. The topic of his talk was Use of Open Resources for Higher Education. Addressing the participants, he talked about the significance of open educational resources. They are the cheapest source and the material available can also be transmitted to the students very easily. He also talked about the creative commons ho make people aware about the copyrights. He discussed different icons or signs under common creative licenses. He talked about different open access books including open stax college, college open textbooks, open textbooks library. He asked participants to upgrade their skills by joining online courses. He asked all to be internationally competitive. He concluded his lecture by saying, ''When you learn transparently and openly, you become a teacher''. The last session of the day was conducted by Dr Partap Kumar Patti, Professor and Head, Department of Biotechnology, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The topic of his talk was ''How to become a good teacher?'' Addressing the gathering, he said that first thing for a teacher to attain is belongingness towards his/her institution. He explained that adverse conditions or adversity gives the opportunity to the teacher to work on herself. Explaining the importance of hard work, he said that the hard work opens the door for success in life and a teacher should always motivate her student to work hard in life. He concluded his lecture by saying that one can only become a role model for herself by keeping faith in herself. He further explained that for today's education the mantra is Skill Education and innovative research. The classes should be interactive and not conventional so that we can encourage students to ask more and more questions. The time has also come where the colleges should acknowledge the efforts of a teacher. 
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the Faculty Development Program will prove to be a lifetime experience for all the teachers as it will give them an opportunity to enhance their personality. She further maintained that KMV from time to time keep on organizing such type of fruitful activities so that the teachers get an opportunity to explore new aspects of their respective fields and these type of sessions will also enhance the teaching capacity of the teachers so that teachers should be able to deliver the maximum to their students.
