Jalandhar, June 29, 2016: A new leap of engineering education has taken today by St Soldier Polytechnic College whilst introducing the virtual reality education for its students. Under the Digital India campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narender Modi, St Soldier Polytechnic College has been chosen as Punjab’s First Nodal Centre for Virtual Lab which is developed by Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT, Delhi). The virtual Lab inaugurated by Chairman Anil Chopra in the presence of Managing Director Prof.Manhar Arora, Director Dr SPS Mataina, Project Coordinator Prof Vikrant Sharma, Head of Computer Department Reena Rani, Head of Electronics Department Jatin Verma. Speaking at the occasion Anil Chopra said ,”Virtual Lab in engineering education is a big revolution. Students can perform their practical on computer without using any physical resources. They can repeat their practical as many times with different inputs till they get desired output without any physical threat to them. Once they are successful in their experiments they can then go to the physical labs to the real practical.” Prof. Manhar Arora told that worldwide the virtual reality is now used as primary teaching aid. After having virtual lab from IIT, our students have become at par with the students studying various programs at IIT. The best feature of these virtual labs is that it does come with the expert lectures, comments, animations, videos and feedback of the each practical available through Virtual labs. Learning will be very easy for the polytechnic students as they will individually do the practical for real life knowledge.
Dr. SPS Matiana explained the functioning of the Virtual Lab by doing the experiments in electronics, electrical and mechanical fields. Further he added that by having virtual lab at St. Soldier Polytechnic College we have now in a position to give world class education to our students. They will study and learn in the same way and tune as the students of IIT and other renowned educational institutes of the learning world. Sangeeta Chopra Vice Chairperson congratulated the staff members for this achievement and inspired them go for new heights in the filed of education.
