Farm experts of PAU emphasise on strengthening research-extension-farmer-marketing linkages

Ludhiana: The farm experts of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) emphasised on strengthening the research-extension-farmer-marketing linkages during the two-day training course on `Role of Public-Private Partnership in Agricultural Development’ and `Group-Led-Extension’, which concluded in the University on Friday. The course was conducted under the guidance of Dr R.S. Sidhu, Director of Extension Education, PAU. Agriculture and horticulture development officers, district extension specialists and scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras participated in the course.
During the training course, experts presented an overview of Punjab’s agriculture and changing scenario of food marketing. Besides, they shed light on farmer-led-extension, market-led-extension, capacity building of farmers’ groups, participatory rural appraisal, team building, conflict management and communication skills. In addition, they laid thrust on cooperative farming, organic farming and role of public-private partnership in agricultural development. The course was jointly coordinated by Dr T.S. Riar and Dr Rupinder Kaur whereas it was technically coordinated by Dr J.S. Bhalla and Dr Dharminder Singh.
