ICICI Bank organises its 100th Coin Exchange Mela at Bhopal

Bhopal, October 12, 2015: ICICI Bank Ltd, India's largest private sector bank, organised a coin exchange mela at Vijay Market in Bhopal under the guidance of the Reserve Bank of India. It was the 100th mela organised by the Bank in this fiscal.
 
The Bank has also organised a financial literacy programme at Sagar Public School in the city under the aegis of the Reserve Bank of India.
 
Mr. Vijay Kumar Nayak, General Manager and Ms. S. Usha Rani, AGM, Issue Department, Reserve Bank of India, Bhopal inaugurated the mela and the literacy programme, respectively.
 
The Bank organises such coin exchange melas to offer free facility of exchanging acceptable soiled and mutilated currency notes with coins to the general public and is a much-awaited event that receives an overwhelming response from people from all walks of life. Anyone can avail of this facility free of cost.
 
The coin mela saw participation of over 100 shopkeepers where they exchanged coins worth over Rs. 7 lacs in the denomination of Rs.10, Rs.5, Rs.2 and Re.1.
 
In the financial literacy programme, the RBI officials created awareness among 300 school students on the features of genuine Indian currency banknotes, clean note policy, identification, valuation and handling of mutilated & counterfeit notes.
