Ludhiana, December 29, 2012: An ideal example of synergy between the Army, Police and eminent citizens was seen at Government College for Girls where they all joined hands to educate and motivate the young girl cadets of NCC attending the 10 days Combined Annual Training Camp  being conducted by 3 Punjab Girls Bn NCC, Ludhiana under the  command of Col Ashwani Kumar, the commanding officer of the Bn. Commissioner of Police Isher Singh, personally  addressed the girl cadets of NCC on crime against women and the help that is being rendered by the Police specially to ladies and girls. Commissioner of Police gave a detailed account of modernisation in the force and urged the commanding officer to arrange a visit by the NCC cadets to the state of the art police control room.

This motivating talk by the commissioner of Police was followed by a detailed brief on prevention of crime against women by Neelambari Jagdale, IPS. She assured the girl cadets of all the help and gave her personal cell numbers to all the cadets and briefed them about actions to be taken in eventuality of any crime.

Nilambari Jagdale, also explained that girls can approach Sanj Kendras or Crime Against Women Cell situated, near Lakkar Bridge, Ludhiana for any assistance. In addition girls and ladies can call on help line number 0161-1091 to lodge their complaints.  

Thereafter, Prof Harish Puri shared his thoughts on crime against women followed by an educative talk by Dr Suman, an eminent Gynaecologist.

A demonstration was given by young Taekwondo players on how to deal with cases of eve teasing and chain snatching. This session carried on for 2 hours and was appreciated not only by the cadets but also by the parents who happened to come to meet their children in the slot given to them.

In the end, Col Ashwani Kumar thanked the commissioner of police, the Additional Deputy commissioner of Police, Prof Harish Puri and Dr. Suman for having spared their time.

The session ended by a two minute silence for the departed soul of Damini, the daughter of India.
