Goods without bills seized

Ferozeur, August 24, 2012 : The excise and taxation team raided at the Ferozepur Cantt railway station, under the supervision of Parvinder Kumar, Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Ferozepur and seized goods worth lakhs of rupees without any authentic billing.

AETC informed that long back, the department was receiving the secret information that number of businessmen of the city are receiving the goods supplies from  Delhi and other metropolitan cities, without any proper bills and making a theft of revenue of lakhs of rupees to the Punjab Govt.  Working on this information, on 23 August, a different teams consisting of ETO Yash Gill, ETEs Jaspal Handa Harjinder Singh, Rajnish Sharma and Gurbakhsh Singh, raided at the railway station at night at the time of arrival of Janta Express and Delhi Passenger trains and seized 106 packets.

He further said that the goods in all these packets were without bill and the same will be released only after the deposit of requisite penalty and tax amount.

AETC also said that normally the businessman in connivance with the railway department, are doing this type of embezzlement and when they come to know of raid by the excise and taxation department, the goods without bills are dumped in another train standing on the station and collect the same in the morning. The other modus operandi is the goods are shifted to another leaving Ferozepur and unload the material by getting the train stopped at the outer.  This has become a regular feature of the businessmen to dodge the government for saving tax by getting the supplies without billing.
