Governor Underlines The Need For Enriching Education With Moral Values

Jalandhar, August 2, 2015:  Punjab Governor Prof  Kaptan Singh Solanki today underlined the need for enriching education with moral values to carve out a more sensitive and responsible society as the students always have the potential to take country to greater heights.

Addressing a galaxy of eminent educationists, philosophers and delegates from various education institutions here at DAVIET, the Governor pointed out  a nation was always known from its citizens character and education system. He said that we were quite lucky that we Indians have a glorious legacy of our robust   education set up along with social values being inculcated by our great forefathers and teachers. He said that we must ensure the inclusion of education of moral as well as social values in our syllabus at all levels to keep intact the glory of our education system.

Prof. Solanki also gave a clarion call for full coordination of three ‘H’ that includes  head, hand and heart which enables a person to work according to his thinking for overall development of his personality. He said that every individual have unique qualities and stressed the need to identified inner potential of every individual to further groom it.

The Punjab Governor said that it becomes imperative to build, strengthen and expand the educational institutions by working with zeal and commitment and off course with sense of belongings. He also stressed the need for maintaining discipline in the educational institutions and respect for the teachers. He said only those institutions could grow and attain excellence where both the students and the staff remain in discipline by strictly adhering to the rules and regulations and abjure any type of violence.

He exhorted the teachers to take education as a mission rather than treating it casually. They have a much bigger responsibility in shaping the destiny of the country, shaping the future of the young brains and carving out a healthy society, he added. He said good education leads to well educated society and educated society leads to a stronger and vibrant nation. He said teachers should become a living example to their students and not only confined themselves to teach human values but guide them to live those.

He also emphasized on imparting scientific and technological, education to students with special focus on research and development. He said the present day and future world need expertise in science and technology, without which it would be difficult for us to keep pace with other parts of the world.

The Governor said that our educational institutions also have an enormous responsibility for building the Nation through the enrichment of higher education system and called upon the need for an ideal integration of programmes of teaching, research, work experience and community development to enhance professional competence of our students. He said it is our moral responsibility to equip our youth with the appropriate skills to come up to the required standards.

The governor has also honoured Swaran singh from Rurki College , Dr Gautam Singh from Baru Sahib Trust and representatives of Panchnad Invention Institution for their significant contribution in the field of education . Besides this, a book written by eminent historian Dr Satish Mittal on Lala Lajpat Rai was also released by the Governor .

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr. K D Bhandari ,National President of Shiksha Sanskriti Society  Dinanath Batra, Kashmiri Lal khanna Vice President Sarv Hitkari Education Society , North Zone coordinator Devraj Sharma also addressed the gathering.

Earlier the Governor had paid tributes to the former president Dr APJAbdul Kalam and great freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai .

Prominent amongst present on the occasion included Deputy Commissioner K.K. Yadav, ADC (D) Kumar Amit , Sant Hari Giri Maharaj , DCP Rajinder Singh, Director DAV institutes M L arrey , vice chairman PSEB Suresh Tandon.
