Sham-E-Jashn and Cultural Show with Dramebaaz being inaugurated at HMV, Jalandhar.

Jalandhar, January 21, 2015: Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, the first college in North India to get the status of College of Excellence by UGC, celebrated it by organising Sham-E-Jashn and Cultural Show with Dramebaaz, theatrical group of Mumbai in the college auditorium Ragini. 

The Chief Guest of the evening was Yurinder Singh Hayer, Police Commissioner, Jalandhar.  The Presiding Guests were Lt.Col.(Retd.) Manmohan Singh, Ex-District Sainik Welfare Officer, Jalandhar, Parneet Bhardwaj, ADC (Dev.)Jalandhar and Anita Bhardwaj, Deputy  Director, Local Bodies, Punjab.

Dramebaaz Group with members Madhurjit Sarghi, Rakesh Chaturvedi Aka Om and Mona Wasu, performed Ek Baar Ki Baat Hai, a collage of thought provoking stories of famous writers Ismat Chugtai, Saadat Hassan Monto and Rajinder Singh Bedi.

Rakesh Chaturvedi aka Om performed Mammad Bhai, a satirical story by Saadat Hassan Monto.  Madhurjit Sarghi performed on Rajinder Singh Bedi’s story ‘Lambi Ladki’.  Mona Wasu performed on Ismat Chugtai’s story Bhabhi. 

Principal Dr. Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj welcomed the guests with bouquet of flowers.  She said that this event is an effort of HMV to revive theatre in North India in its original form.  The college student Gurkwanwal Kaur sang Kaafi ‘Allah Hoo’, which was highly appreciated by the guests.  The performance of theatre artists in the collage of stories Ek Baar Ki Baat Hai took the audience to the world of short stories. 

Speaking on the occasion, Hayer said that it is a great opportunity for the residents of Jalandhar to see such a great performance of theatre in Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. He appreciated the performance of the artists.  He said that the artists have truly depicted the theme of the story through their acting. 

On this occasion, the Giddha team of the college performed Giddha with full enthusiasm which made the celebration more colourful with vibrant and energetic Punjabi Culture. 

Members of LMC, Principals of Local Colleges and Schools were also present. 

Stage was conducted by Dr. Jasbir Rishi.  All the heads of the various departments and Deans were also present.
