Ludhiana, February 27, 2019: India is very fortunate as more than 50 percent of its population is less than 25 years of age, enabling it to catapult ahead of other economies. However if not nurtured properly, our youth instead of being a highly productive asset, could actually become a liability. Kamal Wadhera, President, Ludhiana Management Association-LMA said today during the one day event Shaping Young Minds Programme (SYMP) organized in association with All India Management Association-AIMA and leading universities and institutions of the region. About 800 students from PAU-MBA, PU-UBS, CU, CTU, PCTE, GNIMT,GNDEC,GGI, KIMT and GNIMT participated in the session.
Mentors for this programme were General V.P. Malik, former Chief of Indian Army, Prabhu Chawla, one of Indias most respected journalists, Dr. Shikha Nehru Sharma, MD, Nutri Health and Raghu Nath Medge, President Mumbai Dabbawalas. These eminent personalities not only narrated their experiences by sharing anecdotes, but also interacted with the youth and also answered their queries.

“Youth must decide what are their objectives and goals, only then they would be able to shape their minds and lives for reaching the pinnacles of success.” was Veteran Journalist Prabhu Chawla’s message for the youth. He also advised them to be decisive, influential, team players and also remember that their conviction should not be a function of their convenience. Chawla added that though individual success was critical, it was also important that one contributes to society and also ensures good followership and succession planning. This session was moderated by Gautam Sikri, MD Ramson Tyres.

If you want to excel then listen to your inner voice, was the message shared by Dr. Shikha Nehru Sharma, promoter Nutri Health Systems. She underscored the need for institution building, encouraging talent, importance of positive stress as a consistent motivator and also self belief. Sharma advised youngsters to be emotionally strong, decisive and be self driven for writing the script of their life-their own life story. Dr. Vandana Shahi, Principal BCM School moderated the session.

General V P Malik, former Chief Indian Army emphasized that “Youth must understand in these times of rapid innovation, that people would be the most important asset for any organization, and they should be nurtured and developed for the success of any form of organization.” He asserted that though some leaders may be endowed with a few traits of leadership, it is essential that leaders be developed by inculcating in individuals the qualities of self belief, hard work, opportunity identification and requisite experience. General Malik also exhorted the youth to focus on implementation, as quick execution was the key to success than complex planning. This session was moderated by Raghav Chaudhary, MD Crescendo Global.

Raghunath Medge, President Mumbai Dabbawallas asserted, “Customer Satisfaction, Quality Control and Business Success are not the exclusive mantras of the educated managers or the privileged, rather strong teams, shared vision and commitment to the larger purpose should be the benchmark for success in operations.” Sharing anecdotes with simplicity, he build the need for zero defect delivery, linking the individual with the organization and the business to social need and welfare for achieving breakthrough results. Mr. Amit Jain, MD Shingora Shawls moderated this session. Vote of Thanks to the Mentors was proposed by LMA Vice President S.S. Bhogal. He hoped that students would shape their minds as per the guidelines of these icons, and in the process also shape their destinies.
