Earth Day celebrated at Pushpa Gujral Science City

Kapurthala, April 22, 2016: Earth Day celebrations at Science City were marked with interaction of well known environmentalist Dr Arun D Ahluwalia, Environment Outreach Incharge, Panjab University with over 200 students and their teachers from about 100 schools across Himachal Pradesh visiting Science City. These budding audience comprised of Space Science Olympiad toppers in various schools of Himachal Pradesh which was conducted by educare and these students were also recognized by PGSC.

Besides excitements of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Dr. Ahluwalia touched on air, water and soil pollution and the need for management of all natural hazards through societal scientific temper and sustainable use of science and technology in village as well as our rights and duties towards Mother Earth.

On this occasion, Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director, Pushpa Gujral Science city, said that every year, April 22 is celebrated as "Earth Day" to increase public awareness on the environment. Earth day should be used as a powerful catalyst to involve people in making a difference towards a healthy, prosperous and sustainable future. The celebration reminds us to protect the Mother Earth in every possible ways. He asserted that if we all put our best foot forward to stop the rampant global warming, we can expect certain rewards in the future. There are solutions to global warming available today and its time we put them to use. These solutions will reduce the amount of heat-trapping gases that we emit into the atmosphere.

The Caption contest and Declamation competitions were also organized beside showing special show at Climate Change Theatre.
