District Administration to organise international day of persons with disabilities on Dec 3

Ludhiana, November 28, 2019: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta today informed that on December 3, 2019, the district administration Ludhiana would be organising International Day of Persons with Disabilities at District Bureau of Employment & Enterprises (DBEE), near Partap Chowk, here.
A meeting in this regard was chaired by Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta at DBEE premises.
She informed that this day is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilise support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
Mrs Gupta informed that on December 3, the district administration would educate people with disabilities about various aspects as to how they can become self- dependent. She informed that they would be educated about loan facilities, government welfare schemes for them, job opportunities in both government as well as private sector, education opportunities, self-employment, their rights, etc. She said that the main aim of organising this function is that the persons with disabilities become empowered and self-dependent.
She informed that this function would start at 10:30 am on December 3 and Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal would be the chief guest on the occasion. She urged all persons with disabilities to attend this function in large numbers because a large number of banks, government departments, NGOs etc would be setting up their kiosks to educate them.
Mr Navdeep Singh, Deputy CEO, DBEE, was also present on the occasion.
