CHANDIGARH, JUNE 25, 2019: To give further impetus to the Punjab Government’s Ghar-Ghar Rozgar Scheme, the Housing Department has started the recruitment in various cadres in its Town and Country Planning wing.

Sharing this here today, Housing & Urban Development Minister Mr. Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria said that the recruitment drive was necessitated to accelerate the pace of work and bring efficiency in the working of the department, as considerable number of employees working on different positions had attained superannuation over the years.

He said that the recruitment drive for filling the posts of Assistant Town Planners (ATPs) and Planning Officers (POs) was on in the Country & Town Planning Wing. Considering that planning plays a crucial role in the development of any Urban Estate, need to fill the vacancies of Assistant Town Planners and Planning Officers was felt; hence the drive to recruit these officials was started after obtaining consent from Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, revealed Mr. Sarkaria.

The Minister further stated that the Punjab Public Service Commission has sent a list of selected 12 ATPs to the Country & Town Planning Department. Next batch of 13 Assistant Town Planners whose interview process is over will also be joining shortly. Besides, a list of 32 selected Planning Officers was received in the department. The procedure to give them appointments has been completed and very soon these officers will also be joining.

Once the staff assumes duty, it will fasten the disposal of works and will facilitate the general public approaching the department to avail various services, said Mr. Sarkaria. By recruiting the staff, the Captain Amarinder Singh led Government is working in the direction of fulfilling its commitment of providing Ghar Ghar Naukari, he said.

Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Housing & Urban Development Ms. Vini Mahajan, IAS, said that this recruitment was being undertaken to ensure smooth functioning of the Department. Strengthening of the staff will definitely better the delivery of various services being provided to the general public, she added.
