Ludhiana, January 14, 2019: In view of the ongoing construction of Elevated Road, Ludhiana, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mrs Kanwal Preet Kaur Brar has directed the contractor to formulate a plan so that public can use the slip road along the Ferozepur Road for vehicular traffic so that traffic congestion on this stretch is eased out.

She said this while chairing a meeting of all stakeholders of this project at MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar, here today.

During the meeting, the status of the project was reviewed by the MC Commissioner. The contractor briefed that the contract for relocation and cutting of trees standing on proposed slip road site would be awarded soon. They said there once the contract is awarded, the work on relocating/cutting of trees would start as all necessary permissions have already been taken from the concerned departments.

The Municipal Corporation Commissioner directed the contractors of the elevated road project to ensure that all slip roads are constructed in such a manner that there is no traffic congestion/bottleneck there. She also directed them to prepare a list of all bus queue shelters, foot over bridges etc that need to be relocated to new places so that they do not cause any hindrance to this project.

Councillor Mrs Mamta Ashu stated that due to the ongoing construction of elevated road, the commuters are facing problems as the width of the Ferozepur Road has narrowed down from some places. She assured the city residents that very soon, traffic congestion on the Ferozepur Road would be reduced and that there would be smooth flow of traffic. She assured that city residents would not suffer due to the ongoing construction activity as the slip roads would be ready soon.

Today’s meeting was also attended by MC Zonal Commissioners Mr Amrinder Singh Malhi and Mr Jasdev Singh Sekhon, ACP (Traffic) Mr Gurdev Singh, traffic expert Mr Rahul, besides several others.
