Dev Samaj College of Education holds ‘Skill India Swadeshi Mela’
Chandigarh, October 19, 2019: NSS units of Dev Samaj College (DSCE), Sector 36¬¬-B, Chandigarh celebrated ‘Skill India Swadeshi Mela – 2019’. The event was inaugurated by Shriman Nirmal Singh Dhillon, Secretary, Dev Samaj and Chairperson, Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36-B, Chandigarh and Dr.Navdeep Sharma, NSS Co-ordinator, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Students of the Dev Samaj College of Education exhibited their skills through various creative stalls of food items, decorative items, photography, games, sweets and many more. The special element of the Mela was the items exhibited by the students of GRID-Government Rehabilitation Institute of Intellectually Disabled, which were spices, candles, pottery items, envelopes and handkerchiefs. The handmade candles by the students of Institute for the Blind, Sector-26, Chandigarh, too were a huge success. Around 400-500 people visited the mela and made it a huge success. The whole event followed the theme of an environment friendly celebration which featured no use of plastic and other environmentally degrading material. Eco friendly products were used by the students to showcase their creativity. Dr.(Mrs)Agnese Dhillon, Principal, DSCE, appreciated the skills and efforts of the students and carried out an oath to make this Diwali a plastic free celebration. There was a special performance by the Grace Band of I.S. Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School, Sector-21. The event was concluded with great enthusiasm and spirit of festivity.
