CPI opposes Citizen’s Amendment Bill, terms it as a conspiracy to polarize the society on communal lines”
Ludhiana, December 10, 2019: The Communist Party of India (CPI) has condemned the Citizens’ Amendment Bill and termed it a subtle conspiracy to split the society on communal lines. In a press conference held today the district leadership of the party has said that this is completely unconstitutional and is in line with the RSS-BJP designs to make India a Hindu Rashtra. This move totally negates the hard earned freedom by lakhs of Indian people from various walks of life, different religious beliefs, castes, ethnic and linguistic groups to build a secular democratic India. The government has utterly failed to protect human rights and is out to push the country into anarchy. Expressing deep anguish at the increasing incidents of rape and murder of women across the country the CPI demanded governments to stand up to take responsibility for pro security of women and other vulnerable sections of the society. The criminal justice system has utterly failed under the present government which has promoted the culture of mob lynching. Extra judicial decisions are a pointer to this. The judicial system should be free from any political pressures and be reoriented to the modern day needs of the society. Extra judicial judgments and punishments will be a very disastrous for our democracy and modern civilization. Economy is in the doldrums jobs are nowhere to be seen and people are agitating all around the country for their rights. Repression on the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University is highly condemnable in this regard. Various leaders who addressed the press conference today on the Human Rights Day in Ludhiana called upon the people to struggle united leave to defend their human their rights of food security jobs and other basic needs. The press conference was addressed by Comrades D P Maur-District Secretary, Dr Arun Mitra, Ramesh Rattan, Gurnam Singh Sidhu, Charan Sarabha, Dr Gulzar Pandher, Surinder Singh Jalaldiwal.
