COLOURFUL PROCESSIONS, FOLK SONGS AND DANCES GALORE AT PAU YOUTH FEST

Ludhiana, November 9, 2016: The sixth day of the PAU Inter College Youth festival witnessed the event’s inauguration by Deputy Commisioner, Ravi Bhagat and coming together of cultural processions depicting various social themes, put together by students of constituent colleges. Describing the youth fest as colourful and vibrant, the Chief Guest Mr Bhagat congratulated the various colleges for putting up a beautiful show through depiction of the ‘Make in India’ slogan, prioritizing agriculture and bringing forth the menace of drugs. He motivated the students to instill passion into every task undertaken by them, at the same time give due respect to teachers. While describing college and university years as the golden period of life, Bhagat urged the students to build positive persona by taking active part in all extracurricular activities.

In his address to the audience, the Vice Chancellor, Dr B.S. Dhillon, the Guest of Honour, made a point on discipline as an important trait for personal growth. He encouraged the students to heartily enjoy their years in the university, balancing studies along with co curricular activities. While congratulating all the participants for the hard work put in for the various events during the fest, Dr Dhillon insisted on healthy competitive spirit and team work for the greater success of the events. He also informed that according to an international survey, Punjab Agricultural University and IARI, New Delhi are the only two Indian universities to be ranked among top 300 universities of the world, on the basis of the number of publications.

Earlier, the Chief Guest lighted the lamp and was honoured with a shawl and memento by the Vice Chancellor, Dr B.S. Dhillon. Dr. Ravinder Dhaliwal, Director Students Welfare proposed the Vote of Thanks. Also present during the event were, the Deans, Directors, Officers of the University, faculty, staff and students.
