Chandigarh, November 23, 2016: President of India Sh Pranab Mukherjee conferred the Indira Gandhi NSS Award (IG NSS
Award) on Panjab University (PU) student Mr. Sandeep Kumar on November 19 at New Delhi.
IG NSS Award is one of the most celebrated awards given by the Government of India for extraordinary services rendered in the field of NSS. It is for the first time that a PU Campus student has received the coveted award.
The award carries Rs 50,000 in cash, a trophy and certificate. The IG NSS Award are given to recognize out-standing contribution of NSS Student volunteers in community service and to encourage young NSS student volunteers to develop their personality
through community service and acquire positive social attitudes and values.
