CME on Abdominal Imaging held at DMCH

CME on Abdominal Imaging being held at DMCH, Ludhiana on Sunday.

Ludhiana, November 23, 2014: Department of Radio-diagnosis & Imaging under the aegis of Indian Radiological & Imaging Association(Punjab State Branch) today organised  a CME on Abdominal Imaging, which was formally inaugurated by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society, Prem Kumar Gupta. Among those present on the occasion were Principal Dr Daljit Singh, Vice Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chinna and Medical Supdts. Dr Sandeep Sharma and Dr Ashwani Chaudhary.
In her address, Organising Chairperson Dr Kavita Saggar (Professor & Head of Radio-diagnosis & Imaging) said that the field of Radiology and Imaging is advancing rapidly with a vast choice of modalities and ever changing techniques of imaging. She further added that Abdominal imaging has improved by leaps and bounds in the past few years, with diagnosis becoming more precise to help the clinicians and surgeons. These exciting developments also pose new challenges for the radiologists who have to keep updating their knowledge. The CME was conducted to deliberate on various aspects of abdominal imaging and share views with the experts in the field. Thus it is essential to update our knowledge in order to keep abreast with the latest technology.
Organising Secretaries-Dr Parambir Sandhu & Dr Ritu Galhotra informed that the CME included a series of guest lectures on topics of current academic interest.
The CME was attended by 200 radiologists of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, said Dr Ahluwalia, Scientific Secretary of CME.
The CME began with lecture on ‘Congenital anomalies of pancreaticobiliary ductal system-Imaging features and treatment implications’ by Dr Sunil K Puri from GB Pant Hospital, New Delhi. He also spoke on ‘Cystic tumours of pancreas’ 
Dr Raju Sharma from AIIMS, New Delhi gave deliberations on ‘Imaging of liver tumours’ and ‘Role of diffusion weighted MR in abdomen’.
Other topics included in the scientific session of CME include ‘MRCP-Non Invasive tool for pancreaticobiliary assessment’ by Dr Vijender Arora from Amritsar, ‘Imaging in pediatric acute abdomen’ and ‘Imaging of Neonatal Jaundice’  by Dr Kushaljit Singh and Dr Akshay Saxena from PGIMER Chandigarh. Dr Kunwarpal Singh from SGRD, Amritsar and Dr Sidharth Prakash from DMCH,Ludhiana elaborated on the topics ‘Imaging of pediatric abdominal masses’ and ‘Hepatolbiliary Intervention’ respectively.
The CME was concluded with a proposed vote of thanks to the guest speakers and participating delegates
