Ludhiana, May 18, 2014: Ludhiana Invincibles Round Table (LIRT 202) under the umbrella of Round Table India organised a mega Charity Art Competition for the children of Ludhiana “Zindegi Ke Rang, Round Table Ke Sang” on Sunday here.
This was the first ever event of this magnitude that attracted hundreds of children between 7-16 years from all backgrounds of life. “Zindegi Ke Rang, Round Table Ke Sang” was truly a special event because it celebrated education beyond borders. Sticking to its motto, “Freedom Through Education” LIRT 202 and its members put in 6 months of hard work to make this event a success. Painting is a language that all people speak that cut across racial, cultural, social, educational, and economic barriers and enhance cultural appreciation and awareness.
This social event not only benefited the thousands of students who participated, but also benefited underprivileged children who through this platform will get access to clean drinking water under the project “Ek Boondh”.
The event was inaugurated by the Deputy District Education Officer, Gurjot Singh who talked about the current problems with the drinking water and lack of infrastructure in many government schools in Ludhiana district. He also praised Round table for this effort and helping thousands of children get access to clean drinking water.  The theme of the art competition was “Save water, save earth” and went well with the awareness of the major cause.
The event was judged by the esteemed panel that included Radhika Jaitwani (Social worker), Gurjot Singh (Deputy District Education Officer) and Jyoti (Renowned Art teacher). They showed their gratitude to judge such a big event that was full of young talent.
The event was concluded by the Guest of Honor, MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu, who praised the effort of LIRT 202 and the talent of young kids. He emphasised on the importance of clean drinking water being the stepping stone to build a bright future. The winners of the competition under various categories were and were facilitated by the esteemed panel.
After prize giving ceremony, the Chairman Nalin Mahajan congratulated the team of lirt 202 for pulling off such a big event and be able to donate R.O plants to government schools under project “Ek Boondh”. The government schools were gifted with R.O plants by MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu and the esteemed guests of honor.
This event truly brought smiles to the hundreds of children around the city, and with the effort of Round Table, thousands of underprivileged children will have smile on their faces through their project “Ek Boondh” which hopes to provide clean drinking water to every child in the Ludhiana district. As Nalin Mahajan said, it’s a continuous and collective effort and through this initiative Round table hopes to create awareness of this serious problem and attract likeminded people of the city to come forward for this cause. We must remind ourselves of the plight of these kids, whenever we hold a glass of clean drinking water of ourselves.
