ALL MEAT & EGG SHOPS TO REMAIN CLOSED ON APRIL 17

ADDITIONAL DISTRICT MAGISTRATE & POLICE COMMISSIONERATE ISSUES BAN ORDERS Ludhiana, April 16, 2019: All meat and egg shops in the district will have to remain closed on April 17, 2019, on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, Additional District Magistrate Mr Iqbal Singh Sandhu and Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Ashwani Kapoor stated that all meat, abattoir, egg shops would remain closed in Jagraon, Samrala, Khanna, Payal, Raikot and Mullanpur as well as in all areas falling under Ludhiana Police Commissionerate. They stated that the hotels, Dhabas and clubs would also not serve non-vegetarian items on April 17, 2019, as the festival is being celebrated as a day of non-violence. The officials ordered that killing animals on this day can hurt religious sentiments of a particular community and unscrupulous elements can take advantage of this.
