CME Cum Hands On Workshop on on Reconstruction of the floor of orbit held

Ludhiana, April 30, 2019: Department of Plastic Surgery, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital and North Zone Association of Plastic Surgeons organised a CME Cum Hands On Workshop on on Reconstruction of the floor of orbit. Nearly 50 Plastic Surgeons , Maxillofacial Surgeons and Eye Surgeons attended . The course was inaugurated by Sh. Prem Kumar Gupta , Secretary Managing Society , DMCH . Dr Ashwani Chaudhary , Medical Supdt. Of DMCH presided over the CME . Sh . Prem Kumar Gupta said that such courses help the doctors to update their knowledge and subsequently use this for the benefit of the patients . Dr Sanjeev Uppal , the Course Chairman and HOD of Plastic Surgery at DMCH told that these fractures and bony defects are sustained in road side accidents , hitting of balls in sports like cricket , hockey and Golf . These injuries are also occurring as a result of scuffles .The patient usually presents with double vision , sunken eye , numbness over the cheek and entrapment of soft tissue within the maxillary sinus which leads to these symptoms . Computer tomography scan is a helpful method for the diagnosis and qualification of this fracture. For the orbit reconstruction , natural materials like bone graft and synthetic materials like titanium mesh are used , he told . A hands On Training session cum simulation was conducted on Skull Models by Dr Atul Parashar , Professor of Plastic Surgery at PGI Chandigarh and Dr Anil Murarka , a senior Plastic Surgeon from New Delhi . Other faculty members included Dr Sanjeev Uppal , Dr Rajinder Mittal , Dr Hitant Vohra, Dr Ramneesh Garg and Dr Sheerin Shah from DMCH , Dr Jayanthi Mala and Dr Vijay Obed from CMC and Dr Sunil Soni from Hisar .
