Jalandhar, March 19, 2015: aDAVitya 2015- Redefining Youth, a 2-day National Level Annual Technical Festival was inaugurated today at DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar with great gusto and aplomb by the Chief Guest, Dr Buta Singh Dean (Academics) Punjab Technical University Kapurthala. The inaugural function was attended by Er. S P Sahdev- Member Governing Body of DAVIET; Dr. Raghubir Kaur and S. Anmolak Singh- Trustees Desh Bhagat Yaadgaar Hall Jalandhar; and Principals from other institutions. As per the DAV tradition, the inaugural function began with the customary lighting of the lamp of knowledge followed by an impeccable Dance Performance.

Dr. Sonia Chawla, Head Department of Business Management and Convener of the Tech-Fest welcomed the chief guest and the other dignitaries. She introduced the aDAVitya-15 as the annual event of the Institute highlighting the role of such Techno Cultural Extravaganza to develop and groom the overall personality of the students. She brought to light the fact  that aDAVitya-15, a two day techno cultural fest has around 50 major technical events including the mega event of Project Display lined-up categorized under each Department like CSE, IT, Mechanical, ECE, Civil, EE, MBA and MCA coupled with about 30 informal events under the categories of literary, fun, arts, quizzotika and many more.  It was further highlighted that to keep the students abreast of the latest in their respective fields, workshops on Linux, Xpress Resume, Vedanta, Mock-UN etc. were also organized. In addition, she highlighted the exhibitions namely The Heroes of India’s Freedom Struggle, Canvas to Imagination, Clicker Mosaic and Weapon Display by the BSF during the aDAVitya-15. Dr. Chawla also appreciated Dr. Jagjit Malhotra, Co-convener of this mega event, for putting in his committed efforts for the success of aDAVitya-15.   

Dr. A.L Sangal, Principal, DAVIET welcomed the Chief Guest, to aDAVitya-15.  He said that technology is evolving at a very fast pace these days. If budding technocrats and professionals do not keep themselves abreast of the latest in their fields, they can’t make a place for themselves in this fast changing competitive world. He stressed that it always takes time for the latest to enter the text books being studied by the students. Hence, the role of such tech-fests is enormous since they broaden the knowledge base of the budding technocrats. aDAVitya-15 is aimed to generate invaluable intellectual wealth which shall help in pushing the boundaries of technology and scholarship. He also stressed that the tech-fest shall also sharpen the managerial skills, event management skills, the spirit of team work, creativity and innovation amongst the participants. He advocated A(academics) B(behavior) C(concern) D(discipline) technique to all the participants as the mantra of success in today’s competitive world. He also expressed satisfaction at the fact that the response to the Tech-Fest has been overwhelming.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Buta Singh, Dean Punjab Technical University appreciated the hard work put in by all the organizers for this tech-fest. He applauded the work of Dr. A L Sangal, who had the vision and the determination to organize such a super event. He was effusive in his praise for the achievements of the Institution and urged upon the students to keep on giving their best in each and every endeavour in consonance with traditions and culture of our great nation. He stressed on the qualities of Excellence, Team Work and Focused Mind to take on the challenges of 21st century.  In his speech, he made a convincing argument in favour of such tech-fests since the same provide a potent platform to conjunct theory and practice with latest denominations thereby widening the horizons of knowledge coupled with the rejuvenation of positive attitude. He emphasized that if we have determination then we can achieve anything we aim for.  He highlighted the fact that the initiative of Make In India can be realized if we have well balanced and academically sound professionals who can distinguish the right from the wrong and can be instrumental in forming a healthy nationalistic discourse about important issues pertaining to society and nation at large. He declared the Tech-Fest aDAVitya-15 open. The students of DAVIET performed traditional Punjabi Folk Dance and enthralled the audience.

The Chief Guest also inaugurated The Heroes of India’s Freedom Struggle Exhibition, Students’ Fine Arts Gallery and the BSF weapons display. After the captivating Inaugural function various techo-cultural events started with great enthusiasm at different venues in the Institute.

aDAVitya 15 shall ignite the budding technocrats to tread on the pathways of success bearing the wings of hard-work, determination and dedication.
