2nd day of INSPIRE Camp at HMV

Jalandhar, January 7, 2015: Inspire Internship Camp 2015 is being organised in the campus of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar from January 6 to 10.  This camp is sponsored by the Department  of Science & Tech., Govt. of India.  On the second day of the camp, in the morning session, the students visited Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence for Vegetables, Kartarpur, Jalandhar.  In the first theoretical session of the day, Dr. Atul Khanna, Deptt. of Physics, GNDU Amritsar was the resource person.  He is specialized in Physics of Glasses.  Principal Dr. Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj welcomed him.  Dr. Atul Khanna interacted with the students on the topic ‘Accomplishment of Indian Science: Challenging Opportunities for Science Graduates’.  He told the students about the Indian Space Science Programme and Nuclear Energy.  In the evening session, Dr. Jaswinder Singh from Patiala, a state and national level awardee, performed various experiments of Physics in his mobile.  The students had a great experience during his session.  Later on, students also performed various hand on practicals of Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics in the respective labs.  Camp Coordinator Harpreet Singh said that the students are having a lifelong experience and they will be oriented towards research.  

On this occasion, Dean Academics Meenakshi Syal, Head of Physics Department Renuka Bhatti, Head of Botany Department Dr. Meena Sharma and other teachers were also present.
