20,266 BPL families got smart cards in Kapurthala district

Kapurthala, June 18, 2014: A total 20,266 BPL families have been issued smart card to avail free medical treatment up to Rs. 30,000 under Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojna in district Kapurthala. Under this scheme, a special enrollment campaign for blue card holders of Atta-Dal scheme was started on January 30 in four assembly constituencies of the district.

Disclosing this here today, DS Mangat, Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala informed that under this unique scheme, a family comprising 5 members can avail this free medical treatment facility by paying just Rs. 30 per annum. He said that this facility has been extended in all government hospitals, primary health centers and empanelled private hospitals. He clarified that all benefits of this scheme would be extended to the newly born member of a family also.

Mangat said that ASHA workers of health department handed over these smart cards to each beneficiary family. He informed that 173 BPL families got these cards in Kapurthala, 1007 in Phagwara, 480 in Sultanpur Lodhi Sub-division, 4401 in block Kala Sanghian, 4573 in block Tibba, 4165 in block Panchhta and 296 in block Dhilwan. Besides this, 5171 such families have been issued these smart cards online.
