Sewa Kendras to provide time bound services near home

Ludhiana, March 15, 2015: For providing time bound services under Right To Service (RTS) Act nearer the home of people, a total of 192 Sewa Kendras are coming up in Ludhiana district. Out of these 192 Sewa Kendras, 49 would be constructed in urban areas while the remaining 143 in rural areas of the district.

These Sewa Kendras would provide all citizen centric facilities to common man in a hassle free and time bound manner.

Out of 192 Sewa Kendras, Ludhiana East sub division will have 21, Ludhiana West sub division will have 31, Jagraon 31, Raikot 21, Khanna 16, Ludhiana Urban 27, Samrala 25 and Payal sub division will have 20 Sewa Kendras.

While providing information, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Rajat Agarwal informed that these Unified Service Delivery Centres (Sewa Kendras) is an initiative under the vision of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. He said that the main aim of these Unified Service Delivery Centres is to ensure that the people living in rural and remote areas do not have to run from pillar to post towards city for getting their works done. One centre is being conducted for a cluster of every 3 to 5 villages.

In Ludhiana district, the construction of these Sewa Kendras would be executed by eight government agencies namely Mandi Board, PWD, PWD Construction Division 1 and 3, Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, Panchayati Raj, Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) and Ludhiana Improvement Trust.

Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal informed that the construction of these Sewa Kendras has started in the district and as per the directions of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, they would be ready on time. He informed that these Sewa Kendras would be of three types. The Type 1 Kendras would have seven counters, type 2 Kendras would have 4 counters and Type 3 Sewa Kendras would have two counters.

The Sewa Kendras in Rural areas would be of Type 3 while in urban areas, these Kendras would be of Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3. The Deputy Commissioner informed that the main aim of setting up these Sewa Kendras is that people are able to avail government facilities on their door step.
