The Department of English at the Central University of Punjab organized an Invited Lecture Series with the aim of nurturing creative thinking and intellectual discourse among students. The insightful lecture series was conducted under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari was graced by the presence of two eminent educationists Prof. Pramod Kumar, Department of English, IGNOU and Prof. Roshan Sharma, Head, Department of English and Dean, School of Languages, Central University of Himachal Pradesh.

Bathinda, May 10, 2024: The Department of English at the Central University of Punjab organized an Invited Lecture Series with the aim of nurturing creative thinking and intellectual discourse among students. The insightful lecture series was conducted under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari was graced by the presence of two eminent educationists Prof. Pramod Kumar, Department of English, IGNOU and Prof. Roshan Sharma, Head, Department of English and Dean, School of Languages, Central University of Himachal Pradesh.

 
The first lecture, themed "Writing: Unparalleled Human Experience," was delivered by Prof. Pramod Kumar from the Department of English, IGNOU. Prof. Kumar delved into the significance of writing as a fundamental mode of human expression and communication. Following the lecture, students and Ph.D. scholars engaged in a stimulating discussion, posing thought-provoking questions.
 

Continuing the academic endeavor, Prof. Roshan Sharma, Head of the Department of English and Dean of the School of Languages at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, delivered the second talk on "Literary Theory as a Mode of Interpretation." Prof. Sharma provided valuable insights into how literary theory serves as a critical lens for interpreting texts. The lecture concluded with an interactive session, enriching the learning experience for students.
 

During the event, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, along with distinguished guests, unveiled the second edition of ‘The Ornate Circle,’ the Department of English Magazine. This publication highlights the department's commitment to scholarship, arts, and culture. Prof. Tiwari commended the department's efforts to foster critical thinking among students.  
 

The proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks extended by Prof. Alpna Saini, Dean of the School of Languages, Literature, and Culture at the Central University of Punjab. On this occasion Dr. Shahila Zafar, Head, Department of English along with the entire faculty of the department were present. The programme was enthusiastically attended by research scholars and students of the university.
