Youth of Ferozepur sit on dharna for Ferozepur-Chandigarh Express

Ferozepur, October 27, 2014: In protest against the withdrawal of Ferozepur-Chandigarh train sanctioned by the UPA government, the Youth Congress leaders, National Student Union of India (NSUI), BKU (Ugraha), Aam Aadmi Party, Ferozepur and Youth PPP members sit on a dharna in front of Divisional Railway Manager office at Ferozepur for two hours. During this span of time both gates of DRM office remained closed and created problems for the visitors.
Anumeet Heera Sodhi, Gurbjeh Singh Tibbi, Sukhminder Singh Arif Ke besides Vikram Chaudhary, President, Youth Congress and Anand Dahiya, Secretary, All India Youth Congress, marked their presence in the Dharna along with their supporters.
Addressing the audience Gurbhej Singh Tibbi, Anumeet Heera Sodhi, Satkar Kaur and other youth congress leaders blamed Parkash Singh Badal led Akali Dal-BJP alliance for delay in the Ferozepur-Chandigarh train despite its approval in the first rail budget of NDA. They said that it seems that ruling SAD government is not keen of commissioning of this train as it would adversely affect their bus transport business.
Amandeep Kaur, District Convener of AAP said that a delegation of AAP had met the Akali Dal MP Sher Singh Ghubaya few months ago for the same demand for which the MP had assured them that appropriate action shall be taken soon. But nothing has been done so far. She said that AAP is supporting this dharna above party lines since it is for a neutral cause.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Ferozepur-Chandigarh train was started in March 2014 after efforts made by Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA, Ferozepur. Parminder Singh Pinki had played an influential role and had taken up the matter with the then Union Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge. The train was initially started on trial basis for few months and was later halted. In the first Railway Budget produced by NDA Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda, the train had received sanction but the notification is still not issued to the Divisional Railway Office of Ferozepur till now which had brought lot of resentment among the residents of Ferozepur.
