Punjab government notifies instructions to abstain officers for functioning from their camp offices at residences

Chandigarh, May 21, 2014: On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, the Punjab government today issued notification asking all the officers of the state government not to function from their camp office at their residences in order to ensure responsive, transparent and accountable administration to the people. 

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister's office said that Badal had taken a serious note over the growing tendency amongst several officers to operate from the camp office at their residences due to which the people coming from far off places had to face a lot of inconvenience and hardships to get their work done in the government offices. Badal strictly warned such officers to shun this un-desirable practice and asked them to function from their offices from 9 am to 5 pm on all working days to ensure prompt and hassle free delivery of services to the general public.  The Chief Minister impressed upon them to discharge their duties with utmost dedication, honesty and professional commitment in the public interest. He also asked the officers to maintain decorum and punctuality in offices to win over the confidence of the general public.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also asked the officers not to leave their headquarters, in any case, without the prior approval from the competent authority, as it was unlawful and gross violation of government instructions. Therefore, he reiterated that none of the officers should leave their headquarters without the prior permission of the competent officer. Mr. Badal categorically said that no complacency would be tolerated at any level in terms of ensuring good governance, clean and accountable administration.
