Workshop on Life Skills Training at GGNIMT

Ludhiana, November 12, 2014: GGN Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Ludhiana organised a workshop on “Life Skills Training” for the students of MBA and MCA here today.

Manoj A Kanaujia, Life Skills Trainer, Will Solutions was the resource person for the day. Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Co-ordinator, GGNIMT welcomed the guest and highlighted the relevance of the topic for the personal growth of the students.

While deliberating on the topic, Kanaujia  said that life skills encompasses all the dimensions of human life, be it economical, social or psychological. Elaborating it further, he said that life skills are a large group of psycho-social and interpersonal skills, which helped people, to make informed decisions, communicate effectively and develop coping and self management skills that assisted an individual to lead a healthy and productive life.

Highlighting the role of life skills in one’s self growth, Kanaujia exhorted that life skills helped in the development of social competence and problem solving skills, which in turn enabled the individuals to form their own identity and promoted their self esteem.

Focusing on the current market scenario, the expert said that there was no dearth of jobs in the market but acute shortage of skilled employees. He quoted that Employers have all the ‘qualifications’ from the finest universities around the world and employ individuals who have graduated from the most recognised, accredited universities, but according to research and observation, workplace violence, lack of interpersonal communication skills, stress and anger issues are abundantly high. He further pointed out that mere academic qualifications will not make an organisation more efficient but a skilled(Life skills) manpower could.
