Jalandhar, November 27, 2014: To commemorate the 53rd National Pharmacy Week, CT Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CTIPS) organised a weekly event with the theme “Responsible use of Medicines: Role of the Pharmacist”.

A total 150 students from CT Group of Institutions, Mehar Chand Polytechnic College, Sukhjinder Singh Pharmacy College, Gurdaspur and other pharmacy colleges participated in various activities like Pharma quiz, Declamation and Debate in order to create the awareness among general public about the role of pharmacist in societal health which is the significance of theme of this year National Pharmacy Week.

In order to spread the awareness in the society about the role of community pharmacy in Public Health, a Pharma Rally was taken out to promote the theme “Responsible use of Medicines: Role of the Pharmacist”. Pharma Rally was started from Jyoti Chowk to Post Office Chowk. Students and all staff members participated in the Pharma Rally with placards, banner and slogans related with the theme.

The programs started with the inauguration by Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma (Director, CTIPS) and Prof. S.P.S Khurana (HOD Meher Chand Polytechnic Jalandhar). A key note address on the theme was delivered by Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma followed by expert talks by Prof. Meena Bansal, Raj Singh Saini (Chief Pharmacist, Civil Hospital Jalandhar). Prof. S.P.S Khurana delivered a special session on need of motivation in pharmacy profession. Prof. Meena Bansal addressed the young pharmacy professionals about the scope and future prospects. Raj Singh Saini shared his experiences related with the practice of community pharmacy and its real-time implementation in India.

Around 100 students participated in Pharma quiz and debate competition. This event was organised to explore the knowledge and potential of young pharmacy professionals.   CT institute of pharmaceutical sciences is working in collaboration with other pharmacy organisations and associations, for betterment of pharmacy profession.  Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) congratulated the winners in the event. He also appreciated the efforts of CTIPS and other pharmacy colleges for taking part in creating awareness about role of pharmacist in public health.
