White coat ceremony held at CMC Ludhiana for MBBS Fresher’s
Ludhiana, August 22, 2018: The White Coat Ceremony was held in the College chapel on 22.08.2018 for the new MBBS students admitted in 2018. The White Coat Ceremony is considered the first step to induct the new medical students into the forthcoming life as a professional student. In its recent guidelines on laying emphasis on ethics, professionalism, care, compassion and empathy as part of AETCOM (attitudes, ethics and communication training) module, the Medical Council of India has suggested that all colleges make white coat ceremony as part of the orientation program. Dr. William Bhatti, Director then addressed the students, reminding them of the sacred duties of the noble journey they have embarked upon who emphasized the need for sympathy and compassionate care. The Vice Principal, Dr. Tejinder Singh encouraged the students and spoke about the importance of white coat ceremony. He also added that CMC has always been associated with imparting high-quality medical education and skills. The Principal, Dr. Jeyaraj D Pandian administered the White Coat Oath to the 1st year students where they pledged that they would practice the art of medicine in uprightness and honor, upholding the dignity of the medical profession and the values of Christian Medical College, Ludhiana. This was followed by a photo session with the students and faculty members.
