Minister announces 5 lakh Grant for development of College
Ludhiana, December 22, 2018: Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, under the patronage of Gujranwala Khalsa Educational council, adding one more pearl to the ongoing centenary year celebrations, organized the inauguration ceremony of 70 KW Solar Power Plant today. Dr Arvinder Singh, college Principal, extended a floral welcome to the Chief Guest, Sh Bharat Bhushan, hon’ble Cabinet Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Punjab. Dr S.P.Singh, formally introduced the chief guest and other esteemed guests. He told that this solar power plant will be a great contribution to the production of electricity, not only to the college but the electricity board of Punjab as well. He further added that the college has spent over thirty lakh rupees on this project which is of 216 panels. S. Jaswant Zafar, an eminent Punjabi writer and Shayar, threw light on the non-traditional sources of energy. Shri Narinder Sharma, area Counsellor, also came to witness the ceremony. Dr. Paramjit Singh explained in detail about the technical aspect of this project.
The Chief Guest Sh. Bharat Bhutan ji appreciated the Management and the Principal for this initiative. He elaborated his views and expressed that whereas the college is creating a niche in the academic world, it is also establishing itself in the society by raising many steps for the modern world about the necessities regarding energy sources like solar Power Plant. Minister also announced Rs 5 lakh grant for the development of college.
In his concluding remarks of extending a vote of thanks, college Principal, Dr Arvinder Singh, said that the college has been organising National and International Seminars and Conferences to update the knowledge of the budding scholars and experienced researchers and also various kinds of activities to inculcate moral values in the students as well. The main purpose to install this solar panel is to make the students aware of the plethora of non-traditional sources of energy which have always been there in the lap of nature. He also added that this project will help the students to use the natural resources to produce energy. He expressed his gratitude to the chief guest, whole college committee associated with this project and the staff members on the successful installation of the solar panel project. He, especially, thanked the committee members associated with this project, Prof Barinderjit Singh Birdi, Dr Dalip Singh, Prof Gurpreet Singh and Dr Paramjit Singh.
All the guests were honoured with memento as a token of love, affection and respect, at the end of the programme. Hon’ble President S. Gursharan Singh Narula Gujranwala Khalsa Education Council alongwith the other members S. Bhagwant Singh, S. Kuljeet Singh,& S. Hardeep Singh also graced the occasion with their benign presence. The stage was conducted gracefully by Dr Arvinder Kaur and Dr Munish Kumar.
