Ferozepur, July 7, 2013:  On reaching Ferozepur, Gurnam Sidhu, after decorated with National Youth award by the President of India, was given a warm welcome by the district administration, Press Club members, representatives of various social organistions and the local citizens.

Giving a warm-hearted welcome to Gurnam Singh at local BSF Chowk by Manjeet Singh Narang, deputy commissioner, Sukhpal Singh Nannu, chief parliamentary secretary, Parminder Thind, president press club, Gurinder Singh, state awardee, general secretary, Punjab Lok Kala Academy, Mukhtiar Singh (father), Ashok Handa, Secretary, Red Cross, Moga, Ashok Behal, Secretary Red Cross, Ferozepur Dr. Gurjit Singh Dhillon, State President, DC Employees Union, Vijay Behal, Happy Arman, singer, Dr. Satinder Singh, National awarded, Gurdarshan Singh Arifke, Sunik Kagtari, writer and anchor, Harcharan Singh Sama, Shere-e-Punjab Youth Club, Nurpur Sethan, Naveneet Gora, SAD Circle President, Vijay Monga, Senior journalist apart from representatives of various social organisations  in good numbers were present.

Gurnam Sidhu was taken in the open jeep through the bazaars of Ferozepur City and Cantt and on way, the shopkeepers, citizens and NGOs garlanded him in recognition of the distinction conferred upon him of National Award on July 4, proud for the citizens of Ferozepur.

The award has been given to Gurnam Sidhu in recognition of his services in natural calamities, social development works, education and helping the poor people.

The award by Ministry of Sports and Youth Welfare for 2011-12 carries one medal, citation and cash prize of Rs.40,000.
