Chandigarh, July, 11, 2013: The Punjab government has fixed July 31 as the deadline for the delivery of balance stock of rice in the central pool.
Disclosing this here today, D S Grewal, secretary food and civil supply said that the Punjab government had fixed a target of 85 lac tone rice for the central pool. He said that till date 80 lac tone of rice (94%) has been deposited in the central pool. He said that the residue supply of 5 lac tone rice is to be delivered by July 31. 2013.
He said that all arrangements have been completed and district officers have been asked to ensure the compliance. He said that instructions have also been issued to the FCI to make required arrangements in the go downs so that the adequate quantity of rice delivered could be managed.
