TWO DAYS WORKSHOP ON CRIME SCENE MANAGEMENT
Chandigarh, August 31, 2018: The Criminal Justice Practicum Cell of University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University in collaboration with Central Detective Training Institute organized a Two-Day Workshop, dated 30-31 August’2018, on ‘Crime Scene Management’ at Central Detective Training Institute, (C.D.T.I.) Campus, Chandigarh. This workshop was organized under the mentorship of Prof. Rattan Singh, Director, U.I.L.S. and under the guidance of Mrs. AnjuChoudhary, Assistant Professor (Law), Coordinator -Criminal Justice Practicum Cell. The workshop was aimed at educating the students with the practical knowledge of Law and Evidence relating to Crime Scene. The students were briefed on the role of Investigation Officer and Forensic team at the Crime Scene. Dummy Crime Scenes relating to Murder, Rape, Bomb Blast and Accident were created by the CDTI Team and the students had a firsthand experience of the procedure followed by the Investigating Agency at the Crime scene. The students witnessed the use of modern technology in Crime Scene Investigation and Crime Detection.The event was inaugurated by a bolstering speech by Sh. B.M. Sharma, I.P.S, Director, CDTI, Chandigarh followed by a lectures delivered by Sh. B.S. Dogra, ASP (Retd.), CBI, Sh. Ramesh Kumar, DSP CDTI and Sh. Nand Kishore, DSP CDTI, on the ‘Role of Investigating Officer’. The Crime Scene Investigation was explained in-depth by Sh. L.S. Rana, Deputy Director (Retd), CFSL, Punjab, who is an expert in Forensic Investigation. The event witnessed a great deal of participation and enthusiasm among students.
