School Students planted 1000 plants at Amity University Haryana Campus

136 Students of Loreto Convent School, Delhi Cantt. had visited Amity University Haryana today in its plantation drive, where students of Loreto Convent School had planted 1000 plants in the campus to promote pollution free environment.
The idea of plantation drive is to create awareness amongst the school students about the green and pollution free environment on earth. It is pertinent to note that Amity University Haryana is India's First & Asia's Second University to receive LEED Existing Building Platinum certification, certified by Green Business Certification Institute (GBCI) which always promotes a healthy environment.
Prof P B Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Haryana while addressing the students said, “We need the younger generation to care about the environment on as a major initiative, and it is very pleasing to see that the students are taking this initiative very seriously. We need to do deep research in the area of reuse and recycle of waste matter.”
“I can assure you that the Air Quality in this campus is four times better than that of Gurugram and Delhi. We have a sewage treatment plant where the waste water is treated and the same is utilized for gardening etc. we ensure extensive use of natural light ad carry out real time monitoring and control of energy utilization using a smart power board and were also awarded the Platinum certificate by GBCI for our green building concept, Prof Sharma added.
Dr Vikas Madhukar, Director Admission, Deputy Director Amity Business School briefed the students about the various programs offered at the university and gave tips on choosing a right career path. He complemented the school efforts for taking this initiative.
Students from Loreto Convent School, Supriya Arora and Riya Jain informed us that, “We need to plant more and more trees as the population is also increasing. We need to understand that this is the need and demand of the time that we have to secure our environment as much as possible.”
