Ludhiana, December 11, 2015: A two-day training course on “High Density Planting, Canopy Management and Nutrition in Deciduous Fruits Crops” concluded at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. According to Dr R.S.Sidhu, Director of Extension Education, said the experts discussed problems and prospectus of fruit crops in Punjab and increasing productivity and improving fruit quality through plant canopy management and planting systems in peach and plum. Besides, they dwelt on restoration of productive potential with rejuvenation technologies in different fruit crops; canopy management and plant nutrition in minor fruit crops, fruit tree nutrition with special reference to deciduous fruit plants, and high density planting, and pruning and training in citrus, he added. The experts also educated the trainees about pruning, training and nutritional requirements grapes in Punjab, he said.

The Horticulture Development Officers, District Extension Specialists and scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras participated in the training course.
