Jalandhar, December 3, 2016: A Rangoli making Competition was organised by the Department of Physiotherapy at Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar. The topic of this Rangoli making Competition was Disability, Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy. The students of 1st, 2nd,3rd & 4th year of the dept. participated in it. The students also delivered speeches on different topics like Spinal Cord Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardness, Hearing Impaired, Autism and Aids. They focused on the attitudes towards the disabled people. Dr. Raju Sharma, HOD of Physiotherapy also provided the statistics on world and National level and also said that around 200 million children are suffering with different kinds of disabilities. The main causes of disabilities are mental Retardness, Cerebral Palsy and Autism. In reality Cerebral Palsy has no cure. But if it is identified on time, it can be cured on some extend and changes can be seen in children suffering with it. Dr. Raju Sharma also mentioned that he along with the department are doing treatment of the patients with Cerebral Palsy. Dr. Gurpinder Singh Smara, Principal Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar presented his worthy views that besides the disabilities prevailing among us, we have also other kinds of disabilities which need to be understood and demolished. Dr. Samra assured that the college is always ready for helping the disables. The students who won 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize were awarded by Dr. Samra, Prof. Jasreen Kaur, College Registrar, Prof. Tawinderpal Kaur, HOD Dr. Raju Sharma and Dr. Jaswant Kaur at the end of the Competition. Other members Dr. Richa Sharma, Dr. Komaldeep Kaur, Dr. Priyank Sharda, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Dr. Sonia of the department were also present on this occasion.
