Training Course On Machinery And Its Safety Concludes At PAU

Ludhiana, January 15, 2016: A two-day training course on “Machinery and its Safety for Different Farming Operations” concluded at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. The engineers of State Department of Agriculture and scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Farm Advisory Service Centres participated in the course.
Dr R.S. Sidhu, Director of Extension Education, said the trainees were educated about the importance of farm mechanization, economics of agricultural machinery, and machinery for precision agriculture. Apart from this, the experts imparted practical training in the use of machinery for seed bed preparation, mechanization of vegetable crops, raising of mat type paddy nursery, minimum tillage technology, sprayers and their efficient operation, and making of bio-diesel, he informed. Tips for purchase of new tractor were also given to the trainees, he added.
Meanwhile, a training course on “Preservation of Fruits and Vegetables at Household Level” will be conducted for the farmers and the farm women from January 18-22. The subject-matter specialists will give demonstrations on the preparation ofamla and carrot muraba, amla candy and jam, badam sharbat, kinnow squash, mixed fruit jam, mixed vegetable pickle and guava jelly.
In addition, another training course on “Scope of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants” will be organized for the farmers and the farm women on January 27 and 28.
