Ultimatum to Education Minister to arrange a meeting with the Chief Minister of Punjab before July 14
Ludhiana, July 11, 2016: The Aided School Teachers Union, Punjab, has, therefore, taken the path of agitation and has announced its future course of action that union will hold a Mahan rally on July 14 at Ropar in the constituency of Education Minister Sh.Daljit Singh Cheema followed by chain hunger strike if he failed to arrange a meeting with the Chief Minister of Punjab. On July 8, in a rally at Bathinda chief parliamentary secretary Sh Saruop Chand Singla received a memorandum and assured that he will discuss the matter with the Education Minister of Punjab and Chief Minister of Punjab and do his level best to accept demand of merger.
Davinder Rehan, Press Secretary of the union said that the staff members have been time and again urging the state government for the past 4 years to resolve the crisis, but to no avail.
GS Madnipur, District President of the union, said: “The merger will be highly beneficial not only for aided schools, but also for the state government. A sum of Rs 200 crore that lies in the form of provident fund of these employees can also be utilised by the government. With the increasing vacancies both in government schools and aided schools, it is the need of the hour that merger be done so that they can utilise the services of these employees at other places where required.”
Karamjit Singh, Rano general secretary said that it's not out of order to mention that state government is contributing near about Rs 200 crores as a deficit of salary of aided staff of around 3300 to the managements & only5% is contributed by the managements of said schools. This huge amount can utilize for the development of the state
