Training Course On Farm Machinery Begins At PAU

Ludhiana, May 18, 2016: A three-day training course on “Machinery and its Safety for Different Framing Operations” began at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Officers are participating in the course, jointly organized by the Directorate of Extension Education and the Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, PAU.

Presenting key outlines of the course, Dr R.S. Sidhu, Director of Extension Education said that on the first day, farm engineers dwelt on bio-diesel technology, hand tools for small farmers, and bed plating of crops for high productivity. Besides, experts presented an overview of precision agriculture and farm machinery systems with thrust on the use of Happy Seeder, choppers and balers.

Dr Sidhu further said that the agricultural engineers would also give demonstrations on the use of rotavator, rotary weeder, thresher and combine harvester, laser land leveler, digger and root crop harvesters, mechanical transplanter and seed extracting machines. Besides, the trainees would be apprised of maize and vegetable mechanization; farm safety; processing, grading and packaging of fruits; micro-irrigation techniques for horticulture crops; and mat type paddy nursery raising, he added.
