Ludhiana, May 20, 2016: A training programme on ‘Management of Bio-medical Waste’ as per Biomedical Waste Management Rules, 2016 was organised by Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) today in Dumra Auditorium of DMCH,
The training programme was organised on the initiative of Sh.Manpreet Singh, Chairman, PPCB in order to make the healthcare facilities of Ludhiana aware about the provisions of the New Rules. Although, Punjab Pollution Control Board has completed training programmes in two phases during the year 2014-15 covering entire Govt. Health Care Facilities. Now, again from December, 2015 onwards, new training programmes are being organized which will be completed by June 30, 2016. These programme are organized by Punjab Health System Corporation and local members of IMA were also called during the training programme.
After introducing new Rules on March 28, 2016, now PPCB has decided to organize special training programmes as there are major changes in the New Rules. During the programme, training on Management of Bio-medical Waste was provided by Sh. TS Gill, Environmental Engineer, PPCB and training on Infection Control was given by Dr. Rajoo Singh Chhina, Dean (Academics), DMCH, Ludhiana. In his lecture, Dr Chhina laid stress on adopting proper Hand Hygiene techniques, which is instrumental in reducing Hospital acquired infections. More than 200 Medical Professionals of the city attended the training programme.
In the evening, a training programme was organised for PPCB officers on Implementation of Management of Bio-medical Waste as per New Rules.
