Swimming pool of Municipal Corporation Ludhiana inaugurated after its renovation

Ludhiana, July 23, 2016: Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria inaugurated the swimming pool of Municipal Corporation Ludhiana on Saturday. The pool was closed for its renovation which was going on for the past few months. The MCL has spent Rs 1.25 crores on the civil works while Rs 55 lakh has been spent on water filter plant and works related to operation and maintenance cell.

The MCL has got the pool inaugurated after a long gap of 35 years as its condition was not up to the mark. The officials claimed that with the installation of new water filter plant where hygiene would be ensured water wastage would also come to end as they have also installed water recycle plant.

Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria after inaugurating the pool said, “We had promised with the public that pool would be functional from Saturday and we have fulfilled our promise and now it is open for public after renovation.” He further said though some part of season is already gone but even then there are few months when public can enjoy swimming in the MCL pool.

Meanwhile the MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said, “It is our endeavor to provide better services to citizens of smart city Ludhiana. After swimming pool, mechanical sweeping will be doubled next month and Nehru Planetarium will be upgraded.”

For the MCL employees and their children pool charges are Rs 500 and coaching charges are Rs 350. Similarly for the couples the pool charges are Rs 1500 and coaching fees would be Rs 700 and if couples want to bring their children along they would have to pay Rs 800 per children and Rs 700 would be charged as coaching fees but above 12 years old children are allowed for swimming.

The swimming pool is open in the morning and evening hours. For district association swimmers the timings in the morning are 5 am to 6 am and 4 pm to 5pm while for the public and beginners the timings are 6.30am to 7.30am and7pm to 8 pm. For ladies and girls the timings are 8 am to 9 am and 5.30pm to 6.30pm. For the married couples the timings are 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
