Total facelift of Amritsar and Patiala Medical College hostels soon - Bhagat

Chandigarh, August 11, 2013: The Hostels of Medical Colleges at Amritsar and Patiala would witness a complete facelift within few months as Rs. 10 crore has been sanctioned for the   renovation of hostels of these prestigious institutions.

Chuni Lal Bhagat, Medical Education and Research Minister, Punjab stating this here today informed that the process of revamping both hostels has been started while the physical construction work would very soon as all the formalities have been completed. He said that it was the long pending demand of students due to poor conditions of hostels and now the Government has set aside Rs. 10 crore from the Punjab Ledger Account, 5 crore each for both hostels, to fulfil this demand. 

Divulging the details of facilities to be provided in the hostels, Bhagat said that both hostels would be made world class by equipping ultra modern facilities with a quality work. He said that after renovation these hostels would have state-of-the-art student rooms, Reading Rooms, Common Rooms with entertainment facilities, washrooms, parking facilities besides having green belts around the buildings and upgrading the infrastructure from the current session.

The Minister said that the construction and renovation work would be completed under the supervision of Punjab Health System Corporation. He said that renovated hostels would be dedicated to the students soon after the completion of work within stipulated deadline. 

Reiterating the resolve of SAD-BJP Government to provide healthy and congenial environment to the students in their respective institutions, Bhagat said that Punjab would further strengthen the infrastructure in the educational institutions in coming time.
