Trade Union workers seen interrupting trains at Ludhiana on Thursday.

Ludhiana, February 21, 2013: Widespread protest by workers of Trade Unions (TUs) on the railway tracks passing through this city caused a great inconvenience to people on Thursday.

According to available information, the protest led the railway authorities to terminate Shan-e-Punjab at Khanna and passengers train at Doraha and diverted the route of Paschim Express and Pathankot-Delhi Express via Dhuri and Jakhal towards Ambala.

Besides, Shatabdi Express was stranded at Dhandari Kalan for two and an half hours and Malwa Express at Sahnewal.

Three outbound trains from Amritsar, Saryu Yamuna Express, Shaheed Express and Tata Amritsar (Jalianwala) Express left the city after 3 pm when protestors cleared the track.

Details of the delayed trains:

·         Flying Mail  (Dn) (delayed by two hours and 15 minutes)

·         Malwa Express (Up) (delayed by three hours)

·         Dadar Express  (Up) (delayed by three hours and 30 minutes)

·         Shatabdi Express (Dn) (Stranded at Dhandari Kalan railway station two hours and 30 minutes)

·         Swaraj Express (Up) (delayed by two hours)
