PROTEST: Jalalabad Bachao Sangharsh Committee stages protest

Ferozepur, January 4, 2013:  The Jalalabad Bachao Sangharsh Committee sit on a dharna in Tehsil Complex, Jalalabad to protest against the inclusion of 44 villages again in Guruharsahai Tehsil. 

It is pertinent to mention here that with the formation of new district of Fazilka by cutting the areas of Feozepur district, certain villages of Kanungo Circle Mahmu Joea were shifted to Fazilka district in Jalalabad Tehsil.

In the protest, Jaswant Singh general secretary said, the members of Jalalabad Bachao Sangharsh Committee participated in good numbers. 

Speaking on the occasion, the various members of the committee said that political games are being played again by merging the 44 villages of Jalalabad in Guruahrsahai Tehsil. 

They further said that at the time of formation of new district of Fazilka, the villages of Mamu Joea circle were attached with Tehsil Guruharsahai in Ferozepur District but later on, the people of these villages formed a Jalalabad Bachao Sangharsh Committee, a fresh notification was issued to attach these villages with the Jalalabad Teshil by the Punjab government but the political leaders managed the administrative work of police, education and panchayat departments with the newly formed Fazilka district.

The people of these villages have again announced that in no case they would allow the merger of thee 44 villages in Ferozepur District and start a regular demonstration on this issue.

A memorandum was also submitted to Vipul Ujwal, SDM, Jalalabad by the Jalalabad Bachao Sangharsh Committee who assured them to forward the same to the Punjab government for reconsideration.
